Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Each year at work, we break into groups and have a pumpkin decorating contest and let the customers vote on their favorite pumpkin. The group I was in decided to do "Stay Puft" from the Ghostbusters movie. We even created the scene of downtown NYC! LOL We had a lot of fun getting this all together and guess what? WE WON FIRST PLACE!!!!

Fall Fun

This past weekend, Mike and I spent the weekend with Ashley,Shaun and the girls. Mike and Shaun worked on a handyman project while Ashley and I did a little downtown shopping. The girls dressed up in their halloween costumes Saturday night for their church fall festival. Avery is Rapunzel and Maitland went as Maity Mouse. We had a good time and hated to see the weekend come to an end.

I spent the weekend with Cowgirl Jessie!

Yo-da-la-de-hoo!!! What a fun weekend it was! I headed to Ashley and Shaun's early Saturday morning so I could go with them to take Avery to a couple of fall festivals. Avery was so cute!! She LOVED being Cowgirl Jessie! She even won a costume contest at one of the festivals!

It was also Ashley's birthday today, so we all went to lunch after church this morning to celebrate.

Halloween, a fun holiday

Halloween has always been a fun holiday to me. I love all the decorations, pumpkins, seeing the children in their costumes. I live out in the country so we very seldom get trick or treaters and I really miss that. It doesnt stop me from decorating though! Look at these cute candy corn candy dishes I bought for Ashley and Erin, aren't they cute? (I got myself one too!) I also found this cute trick or treat bag at Kirkland's for Avery and have filled it with a few goodies to take to her. I've been busy today making pumpkin bread. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. Have any of you tried the caramel candy corn(shown in candy dish on left)? It's GOOD!!

I found this cute halloween craft in an email from Gooseberry Patch.

Haunted House

pint-size paper milk carton
cardboard square
vanilla frosting
graham crackers
candy-coated chocolate pieces
candy corn
black licorice
mini chocolate bars
candy pumpkins
ghost-shaped marshmallows


Clean out the milk carton with soapy water, rinse and let dry. Attach the milk carton to the cardboard square with a dollop of frosting; hold in place for 30 seconds. Use frosting to attach graham crackers to carton, breaking the crackers as needed to fit. To form the roof, turn 2 graham cracker rectangles on their sides and lean toward each other; secure to the carton with frosting. Cut a cracker square diagonally and attach each piece to the front and back of the roof. Use frosting to attach the remaining candy. Use candy-coated chocolate pieces as shingles and mini chocolate bars as doors and windows. Use black licorice to fill in the seams of the house and attach pumpkins and ghost-shaped marshmallows.

Trick or Treat 2009

What a beautiful Saturday night it was for trick or treating! We were invited over to Shaun and Ashley's friends, Larry and Julie along with some of their other friends for a chili supper and a fun night of trick or treating in their neighborhood! Some of the homes were decorated so good! Avery had so much fun. It only took one house and she figured out what trick or treating was all about! She wouldnt let anyone touch her bag of loot! I had so much fun watching her and the other little ones. What a fun, fun night it was!

Fall Carnival 2009

Friday night was the Fall Carnival at church where Shaun,Ashley and Avery attend. The college students from church put this carnival on every year along with help from church members. There were hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and lemonade for the children if they wanted it along with a jump house and slide and numerous carnival games. Avery and Taylor both won cupcakes at the cake walk. They played the fishing game, duck pond,putt putt, and had their faces painted. Then it was time to go outside for some "trunk or treating". Avery really got into it this year. She loved getting all the candies and goodies! Having her sweet friend Taylor(Tay Tay as Avery calls her) along made the evening even more fun. Next I'll post about her night of trick or treating!
