Second Place!

Each summer our local newspaper has a photography contest with a summer theme. I decided to enter this picture of Avery and it won 2nd place! The picture is in this weeks paper along with the 1st and 3rd place pictures.

I won a photo contest!

I recently joined a newly formed photography club hoping to learn as much as I could about taking good pictures. I've always loved taking pictures but dont know a lot about techniques and such. We had our first monthly challenge and the theme was "Fall". There were seven entries, and they were all very good. Last night at our meeting the winner of the contest was annouced and I won! The above picture was my entry. It was taken at Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountain National Park a few weeks ago while I was on vacation.

Here is what the judge, Hudson Old had to say about my photograph:

"Just a great eye. There's a mood in the mist in the distance on the left quarter of the frame. The line of the road leading into the frame from the bottom right corners is a textbook example of using lines to lead into the subject. This is the best entry technically and with the finer points of composition. "
